We’re very sorry it’s taken so long to get to this point, but unfortunately it’s proved to be a little more complex than we’d first hoped, for several reasons. When we suspended orders for delivery to the USA at the end of last summer, we thought it would be a short hiatus. Well, we were wrong about that!
Some background
We were aiming to get things back up and running before Christmas, but as we were monitoring the situation with other businesses trying to get packages into the US following the imposition of the new tariff regulations, it became clear that wasn’t going to be viable. Long delays seemed to be the norm, with some packages being rejected randomly and some disappearing completely. Not good.
Since the start of this year things seemed to calm down, and then the Supreme Court threw a spanner in the works! We thought we might need to put things on hold again, but actually that was resolved pretty quickly and we’re back where we were with a tariff rate of 10%. It remains to be seen how or if the current war in the Middle East might affect trade, but for now the international postal system seems to be stable even though the geopolitical situation is not.
Why we need your help
Before we fully open up orders for the US, we need some volunteers to help us test the system - this includes our checkout, which will include a tariff calculator, and also the import process and customs clearance. We’re looking for a few people from different parts of the country (to cover the different ISC processing hubs in NY, Chicago and LA) who are willing to place orders which we can then track as they pass through the system to make sure it’s going to work.
There are two requirements to participate in this test:
- You MUST have previously placed at least one order with us (priority will be given to more recent orders).
- You MUST be ready and willing to order now. We will give you a 24 hour window in which to place your order, after which orders will be closed again until the test is completed.
In return, we will give you a discount code worth 10% off your order (which effectively means we will pay the tariff). This code will also be valid for two further orders once we are fully open again.
